Hmm.... The first Zombie (?) known to Westerners was a woman named Felicia Felix-Mentor in Haiti. ::love::
Zora Neale Hurston (an author and researcher) was travelling through Haiti at that time (1930s), and reported that the locals believed that the woman was a reincarnation of another person, who had died in 1907.
