Guyanese appointed Police Chief of Miami Dade schools - chairman - 05-24-2013
Miami – The Miami Dade County School Board recently appointed Caribbean American and native of Guyana, City of Miami Major Ian A. Moffett as its next Police Chief.
Moffett was born in Georgetown, Guyana and at the age of six, he migrated to Toronto, Canada with his parents and sister.
In 1985, Moffett migrated to Miami, Florida with his family. He is currently employed by the City of Miami Police Department. He has a total of 20 years of law enforcement experience, and possesses a Master’s of Science Degree from the
University of Cincinnati and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University. He is also a graduate of the prestigious University of Louisville, Southern Police Institute Command Officers Development Course.
