To make things even worse, Holder's numbers are propped up by his one great series against England in which he took 8 wickets at an average of 31 and averaged 37 with the bat. If you remove this series, his numbers are ghastly. An average of 24.36 with the bat and 52.00 with the ball (and a stonking strike-rate of 114!).
If he wasn't the captain, would be get picked on merit alone?
