in mideval times it was normal custom for girls, as soon as they reached puberty to get married. that could have been as young as age 8! by the time they were 10 they already had 2 children, couple cows, an ox, 2 sheep, 4 chickens and a house.
I was what my parents call "a young lady" at the age of 10years old! had i been in a different time i would have been like the mideval girls@
i am not saying its okay for what we term as "children" today to be used and abused or taken advantage of.
but to say that the holy prophet(saw) was a womanizer or child abuser is absolutely absurd! the reasons for which those marriages took place were legitimate AT THAT TIME and ERA and was considered the norm.

remember also that life expectancy was not what it is now. by comparison longevity was greatest in the USA by 1900 and that was an average of 49 years.
what cud it have been a thousand years earlier. not much I suspect. in such a situation 10 years old and married does not appear so weird

there are those who abhor capitalist marriage of one man and a wife..regard it as a suit of exploitation and call instead for free marriages...the full freedom of humanity when it comes to sexual relations
from what I understand they mean that any one can marry any one they choose to even if they are already married.
only practical considerations and and what the people involved want should be the guide.
they mean all forms of relationships...polyandry..1 woman several men..polygamy..the reverse..1 man-1 woman..men and men, women and women, brother and sister, mother and son father and daughter..brother and brother sister and sister and so on....
they argue for the complete freedom of humanity when it comes to sexual relationships, and protection for children.
what the prophet did had to fall within acceptable practices of his day. community standards are the way of life generally and few get away with breaking those commonly held standards. they are in place for a purpose and not just for joke and parody.
human standards can be any damm thing that is possible..that groups of humans see, believe or find practical, that gets them through.
the Mayans used to sacrifice human beings by the thousands to their gods. the people accepted that. there was canibalism involved..lots of it.
for me I don't see anything special about islam and the prophet mohammed..or about christianity and its god and his supposed son jesus. comparatively speaking they are all on the same level..every religion and its prophets that ever emerged in human experience.
its all human experience and what we come to believe at any point relative to our experience.
now we have the chance to eliminate BELIEF AS A WAY OF LIFE, AND INSTITUTE SCIENTIFIC TRUTH ABOUT OUR REALITY AS THE BASIS BY WHICH WE LIVE..MOVING TO A HIGHER LEVEL OF EXISTENCE..PUTTING ALL THE DANGEROUS CHILDISHNESS BEHIND US

Maps I take issue that humans abhorrent and deviant behaviour can somehow be justified because of experiences and accepatable community standards at a point in time.
Humans are born with moral principles embedded in the genetic code and when grown men fornicate with underage females it is because they have a lust and weakness for the flesh .
How come incest is not practiced in any culture ? It is because that that they instinctively knows that it is forbidden, although I will make an exception for South Carolina
