Thirimanne gets his hundred, youngest Sri Lankan to score a World Cup century. He kills England, averaging 61.80. Against all other countries his average is a much more pedestrian 33.67. Sri Lanka have made this run chase look very pedestrian

England have a fascination with short balls. Their bowling has really been woeful. They haven't taken wickets and have been hammered. Morgan was very passive with his captaincy and lacked imagination. I feel bad for Tredwell, arguably England's best ODI bowler and he doesn't get a look in. Jordan needs to come in, whether it be for Finn or Broad. It's too bad that England don't trust Ravi to bowl as at least he offers some variety.

Well played to Sri Lanka. You have put England one defeat closer to a first round exit. I am just hoping that Bangladesh will seize the opportunity to make the quarter finals and defeat England when they meet.

Was NOT a Seamer's wicket as evidenced by Jimmeh , Broad . Slinger and Lakmal ...
NO wickets for the 4 (add Woakes and Finn)
England would have needed anodda real Spinner ....

If only England had a real spinner in their 15 man squad... I feel bad for Tredders. He is arguably England's best ODI bowler yet gets to sit on the bench and watch the likes of Jimmy, Broad, Woakes and Finn continually get carted around the ground. David Saker needs to take some of the blame here if he believes that the game plan is to bang it in hard and short. England's bowlers have been wayward, bowled far too short and without discipline.

The sooner Saker goes, the better, in my opinion. I am struggling to think of any seam bowler that has improved under his reign.
I read some disturbing stats on Anderson today, they make for some dire reading if you are an England fan.

But when you exclude his first three games - played in 2003 when he was 20 years old - from the statistics, his record is truly gruesome. He has taken 15 wickets in 20 matches at an average of 61.33 and an economy rate of 5.60. And even then, nine of his wickets have come against Bangladesh or Associate nations. He has not claimed a wicket in his last four World Cup games against Test-playing opposition. A young England side require far better from their senior players.
