The Marc Gasol trade was a stupid trade, too expensive and unnecessary.
that trade cost Toronto Valencunis, C J Miles and Delon Wright. what that did was rape Toronto's Bench, take away a very, very good and ambitious young center in Valencunis..for a 33 year old with the intention of dealing with Joel Embiid.
there was and is no way Marc Gasol at 33 was ever going to deal with effectively or stop Joel Embiid. that was a most inefficient analysis by the Raptors front office. Valencunis would have done just as well against Embiid
with a player as good as Embiid you have to forget using one man to defend him. you have to defend him in the whole plan of the game..change the game to disrupt his flow. you have to know what he can do and cant do relative to how a games goes and make sure you have a game flow to create for him maximum discomfort and disruption of his style while running defenders at him all the time.
Embiid is simply to good to be one on one with. you have to get Shaq for that, Olajuwon and centres of that quality to go one on one with Embiid. Marc Gasol is not that good..even when he was younger. and you go and give so much for him.
now the Raptors bench is crap...the starters are playing heavy minutes. and they better hope that Embiid does not recover. if he does the load may become too heavy for the Raptors again
I maintain that Masai became way too clever for his own good here. weer I owners of the Raptors I would have a serious talk with him about that Trade... and the Leonard Trade as well

Anyway what do I care? I don't care at all..not anymore! win or lose I am no longer a Raptor fan. I got my heart involved and once Ujiri started to fuck around I got out of there.
I had taken it that he was indeed very smart as per all the reports about him. but once I discovered that that was not the truth I cut...split. I made the mistake of getting my heart around the Raptors. totally wrong
experience has taught me not to do stuff like that..to like, to have feelings about things, objects, people... beyond oneself, that one has no control over.
