Captain Sammy has been labeled a specialist "Coin Tosser" .

his Win record is quite exemplary  Wink

In answer to your question re: Sammy vs Brearley: Between Test matches and ODIs, as captain, Brearley won the toss 24 times and lost 29 times. In Tests, ODIs and T20s, Sammy has won the toss 65 times and lost 63 times. He has been uncannily impressive at calling correctly in T20s though with a record of winning the toss 29 times and losing 18.

Setting the field is still a huge responsibility of the captain and what sets a mediocre captain apart from a great captain. Cook has long been criticised for his defensive minded field settings. Conversely Mike Brearley is heralded as one of England's greatest captain's and kept his place in the side on that ability alone.

Darren Sammy is another excellent captain. He is very good at reading the game, setting his fields and knowing when to change his bowlers.

Setting the field properly demonstrates a clear understand of your bowlers, conditions and even ability of your fielders.

But is captaincy overrated?

Lloyd for example had treadmill of greats and he really had to set one type of field.

So was he really a great Captain?

He seemed to have been an exceptional man manager which is a pivotal characteristic of the role.

For me moulding an ordinary team into a consistently winning unit, like Border did, signals a great Captain in my view.

For me Border was the best Captain of his era and one of the all time greats.

Brearley was also a good man manager and in speaking to Gatt he said on one of his first matches, Brearley as Captain at Middlesex, approached him, one of the youngest on the field, and asked words to the effect of "What would you do?"

Beefy also endorses him as a great man manager.

Derbyshire opener Chesney Hughes hit a fine unbeaten hundred as their Division Two game with Gloucestershire ended in a draw on a flat surface at Bristol.
After his 96 in the first innings, Hughes made 137 not out as Derbyshire declared on 260-2 and a lead of 141 when the two captains shook hands.
The 25-year-old struck 20 fours and one six in his 239-ball knock.
In a game dominated by batsmen, captain Hamish Rutherford also made 78 in a second-wicket stand of 174 with Hughes.
