Sharing of intelligence and such forms of cooperation with the US is one thing, but any close identification with Washington’s dubious strategies of using the extremist groups as instruments of geopolitics is to be scrupulously avoided. Alas, even after the surge of the Caliphate in Iraq, the Obama administration’s focus is on advancing the ‘regime change’ agenda in Syria.
Suffice to say, the bottom line is that whatever threat India faces from the al-Qaeda or the islamic State needs to be tackled primarily at our end by ourselves through our own ingenuity by eliminating the breeding grounds of terrorism within our country.
