Now hush! Re: Is Anybody Doing Smoothies? - pattycake - 02-22-2015 Here's the recipe for Patty's Mango Blueberry Delicious Surprise: A cup of frozen blueberries 2 large frozen strawberries A cup of chopped frozen mango 1/2 frozen banana 1/4 cup plain yogurt Fresh squeezed orange juice Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice I'm a smoothy novice and just experimented with this concoction. So here's what happened... It came out like frozen sherbet because I think I should have allowed the fruit to thaw first. So I put in fresh orange juice, and mostly fresh grapefruit juice because I'm all out of oranges, and the liquids helped to convert it into a smoothy. But it was too sour tasting so I put in 1 tsp of sugar, and it came out awesome tasting!! This recipe is a keeper! Though the next time I'll use Stevia instead of sugar. Got to get some from Amazon. And to make it more healthy, you can add some chia seed and even some greens. I'll be experimenting more for sure. But the first mistake I learned so far is throwing frozen fruit right in. You gotta let it thaw or otherwise it'll come out like frozen dessert. My accidents turned out to be a success with a tsp of sugar. Tastes incredible! Y'all should try it! And I'm gonna try it with some almond milk instead of the juice too. Re: Is Anybody Doing Smoothies? - chairman - 02-22-2015 lost weight? Re: Is Anybody Doing Smoothies? - pattycake - 02-22-2015 However, I must say that with this Nutri Ninja I just bought, ![]() That I'm dissatisfied with the size of the jar that's only 24 oz. The blender works great, But very limited in room to really blend, and if you're not careful not to overfill it, it will leak. This has happened to me 3 times already. I really consider this small Ninja to be for smoothy experts who really know what they're doing and how to mix small drinks. It's not a good machine for a novice to start with because there's so much about making smoothies to learn and recipes calling for larger jar sizes than 24 oz. This turned out to be a bad joke for me. So I'm gonna get a full sized Ninja next and stick this one in the cabinet. I am so sorry that I didn't get this one to begin with because it cost the same money I paid for the little one, and it's slightly more powerful, a whopping 72 oz in jar size, and has the same review rate. I now know that the little one works great, so I'm gonna get this one next. ![]() |
