Interesting, but surely the Indians would have kept their language going by speaking it in private. No? Why didn't the British insist on them converting to Christianity and adopting English culture and lifestyles?

There were too many Dialects :
So they ensured that a Plantation :
had many different dialects to NOT communicate ...
My Grandfather was an Interpreter fotr the British :
He knew and spoke about 10 ...

The Indians in Fiji and Mauritius kept their bhojpuri alive though. To this day they still speak both creolese (french creolese in Mauritius) and bhojpuri.
