Re: Spinning mystery - ketchim - 11-05-2016 dillinger, is this a nuance when facing Spin ? LHB vesus RHB at each end playing a Right arm Leg spinner like Bishoo Quote:IF a Squad is loaded with LHBs, the Leggie is really an Offie. Re: Spinning mystery - dillinger10 - 11-05-2016 I will see if I can parse the data to pull out the numbers re: leggies against rhb/lhb. I will see if I can get something together over the next day or so and will post any data I can come up with here. Re: Spinning mystery - dillinger10 - 11-05-2016 A quick cursory look at the numbers since 2015 (against top 9 teams). Leg spinners average 34.11 with a strike rate of 60.83 and an economy rate of 3.36 Right-arm off spinners average 34.82 with a strike rate of 61.55 and an economy rate of 3.39 slow left-arm spinners average 36.41 with a strike rate of 74.34 and an economy rate of 2.93 I will go ahead and see if I can parse the data for numbers vs rhb/lhb, though this may take a while. Re: Spinning mystery - dillinger10 - 11-05-2016 Unfortunately, I am unable to gain access to the necessary ball-by-ball data in order to parse out the splits for right-hand and left-hand batsmen against spin. As a small consolation prize, I was able to pull the numbers for all batsmen against off-spin, leg spin and slow left-arm spin since 2000 (min 5 matches played and 15 wickets taken). ![]() By my count, 22 of Bishoo's 77 wickets have been left-handed batsmen.
Cool : 22/55 split So we can conclude Bishoo OFF spin (LHB) account for approx 30% of his haul! and his Leggies the balance or 70% Re: Spinning mystery - ketchim - 11-05-2016
Leg spinners might leak more runs - especially as Bishoo still struggles with line/length -
Check those Splits from dillinger re : "leaking runs" Numbers dont lie
Re: Spinning mystery - dillinger10 - 11-05-2016 Bowling position by innings for Bishoo: Opening bowling: 0 First change: 4 Second change: 17 Third change: 11 Fourth change: 2 With Jason Holder as captain: Opening bowling: 0 First change: 1 Second change: 2 Third change: 6 Fourth change: 2 As captain, Jason Holder has preferred to use his off-spinner before tossing the ball to Bishoo, who has largely been used as third change. Re: Spinning mystery - ketchim - 11-05-2016 Only because Bishoo was Daren Sammy's son Hero Re: Spinning mystery - dillinger10 - 11-05-2016
Only because Bishoo was Daren Sammy's son Hero ![]()
Bowling position with Sammy as captain: Opening bowling: 0 First change: 3 Second change: 13 Third change: 4 FWIW, in the 34 innings Bishoo has bowled, 34% of the batsmen have been left-handed and 66% right-handed. Re: Spinning mystery - ketchim - 11-05-2016
FWIW, in the 34 innings Bishoo has bowled, 34% of the batsmen have been left-handed
It is worth a lot ! cause his critics speak of googlies as the be all and end all. BUT 34 % face him as an Off Spinner !
Bishoo now needs to develop more variations including a good googley.
|
