Not sure what you mean precisely but if you look at Bells' SR for his 122 in the current game against Notts is 82.43. In the same game Irishman Porterfield 50 came at SR of 71. Notts lost early wickets and at regular intervals so I would expect a lower SR as was the case.
Vince's 118* for Hants against Surrey is 94! You might well ask who the hell is Vince.
Another Irishman O'Brien 133 for Leicester against Glams is 94!
There are swings and roundabouts with these things but generally his strike rate is not what you would expect from a player of his experience and class and for a Division II team at that.

I think that is quite true for West Indies as the lineup continues to fail and he has been talismanic in this respect. But even then there is a logical argument that he should bat higher up and have the opportunity to bat longer and with the top, middle and lower order.
There is no real point in ushering in the tail and you continue losing although that has much to do with other rather than Shiv.
In NZ he fell into the hands of his detractors by genuinely not batting well with the tail, continually exposing them.

Mail .. I admit my comment above is 'nihil ad rem' re Derbyshire ....... BUT re Windies, I recall a time when Shiv was shunted up and down the order.... and we still bloody continued to lose despite where he batted because of no support in the top and middle order.
I do agree if he is our best Test batsman which he no doubt is .. he should bat at #3 ... BUT given his long tenure to the game and past record ... I say Shiv bats where HE wants to bat ... story done!!!

Thank you ketchim you are far too kind.
I expect the better players, Shiv being one, to be above average.
Of course there are context and exceptions but we have had a very long time to understand Shiv's approach and he is who he is.
At this level I expect more, however as I say it is early season so we wait and see.

Shiv's cappo Masden batting at 3 made a Ton with a 44 SR ...
He is a 30 year old vs. Shiv as a 40 year old...
