i did every one of those...plus cutting the cane right from the canefield!
every child in my village learnt to swim in the trench running right in front of our houses.
i had a most memorable and happy childhood in guyana......but i would still not ever go back there to live.

(even though i didn't actually do any of the hard part of it)
but i watched my mom and older siblings & their spouses do back-breaking work in the rice fields to make an honest living!

by the way i saw the Shooting flame rising high from the smokestack in hamilton and i said to myself one day i will stop to have coffee.
