Of course the real estate price in Canada will fall dramatically very soon. It obvious, it has happened in so many countries the same way, nothing different here. USA; Iceland, Danmark, Ireland, Spain, Greece, etc. Japan before and other Asian countries. It's a cycle and unfortunately Canadians have managed to lengthen the hanging string for too long, the higher the fall.

I am starting to wonder if the ethics of the financial sector only extend to questions like "what can we get away with?" and "will we get caught?" It might be some comfort that no Canadian banks have been named yet, but given the potential scale of the LIBOR scandal, "yet" is a key word there.

Yes we received notice that our monthly banking fees are going up to $17 per month, from what used to be about $12. Nice to help the banks ensure that they make the biggest profits ever, year after year while many of us are sitting on frozen wages.

buy why deh trying to drive down the dollars value?
dat will bring higher costs to americans and worsen social problems. how will they deal with those problems.
america has off-shored much of its manufacturing so how will a lower dollar help?
same question in the opposite for canada...how does a lower dollar help a resource-based economy?
how much manufacturing do we have, that would balance out the lost revenue from higher priced resource sales..unless we have cheaper priced competition for our resources

good answer. but there is an elephant in the room and because that giant is there a question arises...
Canada has done well..managed itself well enough, avoided banking bankruptcy and may not be bailing out its banks like elsewhere, not under austerity manners..so much so that we do not expect house prices to fall at all far less comparable to other countries who are near financial collapse.
canada is doing well based strongly on environmentally dubious oil extraction technologies, which while profitable at this time, threatens to bring severe, long tern environmental costs.
the question is: what must Canada do to remain profitable, considering increased profits if the CD falls against other currencies..and given the needs of the elephant in the room ::confused::
