To international audiences of course Sunil will be seen as a GOAT and deservedly so, for a brief time he was also that for WI - World Cup winner no less
However the reality is his retirement will be largely irrelevant in the Caribbean as he long stopped playing for the WIndies

Pure speculation but perhaps Narine is going to sign a multi-year franchise deal and needed to "officially" retire from internationals?
