West Indies cricket needs an overhaul, says former Barbados and England cricketer Roland Butcher, after the regional side was stunned 2-1 by Ireland who came from behind to win the series this past weekend.

Describing it as a bad loss especially on home soil against a team who has only managed in the history of cricket to pick up series wins against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, Butcher said this is not a good sign for the Caribbean side who are preparing for the International Cricket Council’s T20 World Cup scheduled for later this year in Australia.

Hearing that Nkrumah Bonner will be in ODI squad to go to India.

If true speaks to the fact that the new selectors want someone who can put a price on their wicket.

Feel sorry for the likes of Ishan, Pant, Rutherford, Hetmyer etc. They are being forced down the order so early in their career to adapt to a tougher role (it makes their progress slower) when senior players just stay at the top and stat pad 130 SR 50s.

Something I've always wondered about our domestic cricket. Players get a professional stipend to play in the PCL (introduced by Cameron & Pybus) but are the standards actually professional?

You can pay a man a living wage but if the structure is unprofessional nothing changes

I am now worried about Odean Smith in two games he was set up and got out the same way, does he even think about the game or the fact that he doesn't have to hit every ball for six? His method of getting out is brainless, I hope he look back at the way he keeps giving his wicket away and improve on it, runs are not made in the pavilion. This guy can bat if he puts his mind to it

Chanderpaul suffered the injury while playing a shot in the nets on Tuesday.

I kept closing my eyes and then rubbing and opening them again and sat transfixed as I watch that unbelievable partnership between John Campbell and Shai Hope. What a magnificent performance by these two! It just goes to show that patience, determination and effort can go a long way to improve the performances of the West Indies team.
