Six candidates have been short-listed for the post of head coach of the West Indies Cricket team, Cricket West Indies announced on Friday.
The six candidates are to be interviewed on October 1, following which the most suitable three candidates would participate in the final interview on October 11.
“I am pleased with what I am hearing of the transparency and efficiency of the process thus far, and the fact that we are on schedule to have a full-time head coach in place soon,” said CWI President Ricky Skerritt.
The CWI Vice-President and Chairman of the Human Resources Committee, Dr Kishore Shallow, Director of Cricket (DoC); Jimmy Adams, and CWI HR Manager, Oneka Martin-Bird, selected the 11 most suitable candidates from the starting list of 34 applicants.
The list of applicants was then further cut to six on September 24.
The selection was based on the criteria and recruitment process approved by the Board of Directors at the quarterly meeting in Tobago on September 7 and 8.
Dr. Shallow and Jimmy Adams will now be part of a wider panel conducting two rounds of interviews to select the head coach before the upcoming series against Afghanistan which takes place this November in India.
The candidates, as well as those who were unsuccessful, have all been notified in writing.
The six potential head-coach candidates, all of whom have a minimum of a Level III coaching accreditation, will be evaluated on the basis of having detailed knowledge of the cricket landscape within the West Indies and globally, previous work experience in a similar role internationally and/or coaching leading teams.
Each candidate also possesses a broad understanding and experience in sports management and working with professional cricketers, sound practical experience in developing elite players. They also have sound knowledge of high-performance cricket with coaching experience at the Test or First-Class Level and they are continuously up to date on modern coaching methods and sports management developments.
The last time West Indies Men’s team had a full-time head coach was September 2018, prior to Stuart Law’s announced resignation.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Lendl Simmons is a worrisome chap even currently ( forgive him for publishing pornography)
That is why he went UNSOLD at the CPL Draft ~
newsday.co.tt/2019/10/08/the-return-of-tkr/
Carlos Brathwaite lost his head after attempting to run out Lendl Simmons when the ball was obviously “dead”
He argued with the umpire who had to restrain the agitated Simmons from responding in kind.
It was awful to witness such behaviour on a cricket field..............
