West Indies T20I captain Carlos Brathwaite will miss his team’s upcoming T20I series in Pakistan over security concerns.
Brathwaite has decided to skip the three-match series, starting on Sunday in Karachi, while ODI skipper Jason Holder, Shai Hope and Ashley Nurse will also miss out.
Jason Mohamed will lead the team while Marlon Samuels and Samuel Badree provide the experience to the 13-man squad.
West Indies selector Courtney Browne said: “We had a few players that opted not to tour Pakistan, due to their or their families’ security concerns and Cricket West Indies (CWI) have fully accepted their position.”
There has also been a recall to international cricket for wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin, who last played in the shortest format for the Windies when they won the World T20 in 2016.
Also part of the touring party are wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton and opener Andre Fletcher, both of whom played in Karachi on Sunday in the Pakistan Super League final.
Browne said: “Denesh brings a lot of experience and an opportunity to restart his international career, while he will be the primary wicketkeeper in the squad, we also have available Chadwick Walton and Andre Fletcher as back up.”
The three T20Is will be played in three consecutive days on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the National Stadium in Karachi.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
