The first Rocket Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka ended in draw thanks to Mominul Haque and Liton Kumar’s heroics on the final day at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong.
Bangladesh started the day with the overnight score of 81 for 3 following the last ball dismissal of Mushfiqur Rahim on the fourth day. In a tough circumstances to save the match, Mominul Haque and Liton Kumar Das made a partnership of 180 runs in the 4th wicket stand.
During the knock, Mominul Haque become the first Bangladesh batsman to score century in each innings of a Test. Mominul now has the record of highest (176 & 105) runs in a Test match for a Bangladesh batsman.
Mominul was dismissed after scoring 105 runs. Liton Kumar went for a big shot and was caught on 94. Skipper Mahmudullah and Mosaddek Hossain batted for the rest of the time until both captain agreed for a draw. Rangana Herath took 2 wickets for 80 for Sri Lanka.
Mominul Haque was named man of the match for his brilliant display with the bat in both innings.
