Aliyah Abrams wrote her name in the record books on Saturday by winning the NACAC New Life Invitational Women’s 400m event in The Bahamas in a new national record time.
The overseas-based athlete clocked 50.20s to better Olympian Aliann Pompey’s time of 50.71s set at the World Championship in Berlin in 2009.
Abrams finished ahead of Charokee Young (50.45s), Roxana Gomez (51.01s) and Stacey-Ann Williams (51.04s).
Abrams has been enjoying a good run of form in recent times. She recently became the first Guyanese to qualify for the 2023 World Championship after clocking 50.77s in the Women’s 400m at the Tom Jones Invitational.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
