Sebastian Telfair was once the toast of the New York City basketball scene. A high school star, the Brooklyn native found himself as a top-15 pick of the Portland Trail Blazers back in 2004.
Fifteen years later, Telfair could be spending time in prison. The 33-year-old was convicted on Wednesday of possessing a firearm and could face 15 years in prison.
“Telfair pled not guilty and fought the charges but was found guilty by a jury in NYC on Wednesday of felony criminal possession of a weapon,” TMZ Sports reported.
Telfair had previously been arrested after a traffic stop in Brooklyn back in 2017. At that time, authorities said they found three guns, including a semi-automatic weapon. Telfair also had a bulletproof vest and ammunition.
The former NBA point guard played 12 seasons in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
