Peter Navarro, a trade adviser to President Donald Trump, apologized Tuesday for calling Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “weak and dishonest,” and for saying “there’s a special place in hell” for the leader, according to a tweet from The Wall Street Journal’s CFO Journal. On last week’s Fox News Sunday, Navarro said that “There's a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump and then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door.” “And that's what bad faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference,” he added. “That’s what weak, dishonest Justin Trudeau did, and that comes right from Air Force One.” In his apology statement, Navarro noted that he felt his job was to appear strong at the time. “In conveying that message I used language that was inappropriate and basically lost the power of that message,” he said. “I own that, that was my mistake, my words.” Trump, who has also criticized Trudeau during a series of trade disagreements, has not apologized.

Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
